With 4,535 Burmese relocated to California since 2000, this state serves as a major location for the Burmese diaspora. San Diego has become a popular city for relocation because of its pleasant weather, the cultural diversity that already exists in the city and the large amount of resettlement agencies and other support networks that exist in the area. The Karen Organization of San Diego and San Diego Myanmar Community Church are active members in the city. The Myanmar Consulate General is also located in Los Angeles.
