Washington DC Area

The Washington DC area, including Maryland and Virginia, has become home to over 5,000 Burmese refugees since 2000. Washington DC is also home to the Myanmar Embassy in the United States http://www.mewashingtondc.com/ as well as other helpful non-profit groups that assist the Burmese refugee community. Cities such as Baltimore, Maryland are actively welcoming refugees to their communities. Virginia welcomes many refugees, in part, because of its active church community.
